The Braun 99UKW is a large a.c mains valve radio, which was made in 1956 in West Germany. It has press-button switching for long, medium & short wave bands.
The valve line-up is as follows:-
ECC85, EF89, ECH81, EF89, EM80, EABC80, EL84, and metal rectifier.
There are three loudspeakers in this radio, a large elliptical at the front, two smaller ones each side.
This radio is the export version of the Braun RC61 Super, the model made for the German home market.
My example is unrestored, the tuning cords are broken and thus require restringing. The layout for these are not shown in the service manuals.
The surface on the cabinets tend to deteriorate with age, so some work will be carried out to improve the appearance. The metal rectifier will be replaced with a silicon bridge and a resistor.
