Cossor 501AC
The
Cossor 501AC is an a.c mains valve radio, which was made in 1950. It has long,
medium & short wave band tuning.
The valve line-up is as follows:-
7S7, 7B7, 7C6, 7C5, 7Y4
These Cossor receivers are easily identifiable with their "stepped"
Bakelite cabinets. The 501AC model has a flimsy plastic moulding around its
dial and speaker, whereas the earlier 494A is devoid of this. However, the 501AC
has a larger tuning scale, but its cabinet is a lighter colour. There is also
a wood cabinet version of the 501, called the 500.
There are also variations of valve line-ups used in the 1950's models.
