Murphy A362
The Murphy
A362 is a stylish looking a.c mains valve radio (auto-transformer), which
was made in 1955. It has long, medium & v.h.f wave band reception, and
employs the following valves:-
UCC85, 10C1, 10F9, EABC80, 10P14, U404.
The 10C1 valve is quite difficult to source for replacements (should it go
faulty), as there is no direct equivalent types.
The treble control is mounted on the rear of the receiver, and like other
Murphy receivers that employ this technique, the quality of the switch mechanism
is very flimsy, and can easily break.
The Acrylic dial scale is quite unique, I have never seen a scale mounted
on a radio front like this.
As with all auto-transformer radios, care should be taken to ensure that the
neutral wire of the mains lead is connected to chassis.
