PHILIPS
290U. A smart looking a.c/d.c mains valve radio, made in 1950. It employs
long, medium, and short wave bands ( the short waves are two separate bands,
spread over the two ends of the dial ).
The
set has a perspex "sunburst" grille, and a transparent PHILIPS badge,
both lit up from inside the receiver. The grille & dial are quite fragile,
and being perspex, are not easy to repair once damaged.
The
valve line-up :- UCH42, UAF42, UBC41, UL41, UY41.
